Valentine’s Day

Valentines Day is today. So is Valentine’s Day real holiday? I don’t think it is. First of all, every holiday involves either a religious or historical aspect. Valentines Day does not. Another reason is that this is a way that chocolate companies, card companies, and just any store or company can make money.

So no. I don’t think that Valentines Day is a holiday. But if you think otherwise, than you do you.

Slow Week

This week went by so SLOW!!! I didn’t finish any books, I had a science project, and a math quiz in a topic on a topic I didn’t even get. I am so excited for the weekend to just sleep and relax. I’m hoping this upcoming week will be more fun.

Deadly Cool

The book I am reading is called Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday. It is about a girl named Hartley who’s boyfriend is a person of interest in a murder case. She knows he is innocent though. Plus all signs point to Hartley of being the killer’s next victim. How far will she go to stay alive and keep her boyfriend out of Jail?

Overall this book has been very good and I would rate this 5 out of 5 stars.

Deadly Cool: Final Review

I finished reading Deadly Cool and I LOVED IT!!!!!  I think that the book had an excellent ending. However the book did leave a lot of questions. I’m curious to know what will happen with Chase and Hartley. I think that many of these questions will be answered in the second book.

Overall I rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars and I plan on, and am looking forward to, reading the second book.

Unwind

i am currently reading the book Unwind by Neal Shusterman.  So far I enjoy it a lot. It has a very interesting feeling to it. It takes place after the second Civil War. I didn’t enjoy how in some parts it is kind of slow. However, I think that it is very great in the high action parts. I am interested and excited to see what is happening next.

Wintergirls

I am currently reading Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson. I think that it I should interesting but also sad. The story is about a girl named Lia. Lia’s best friend Cassie died and Lia has to deal with that. She also has to deal with an eating disorder and getting rid of her parents judgemnt.

I felt that this book is only for mature readers but I really am enjoying this story.

The Poem I Read

The poem I read is a very interesting piece of poetry. I did think that the analogies need a little more explaining because they were slightly confusing.  I did like how the author used examples of poetry that we find in our day to day lives. Overall I personally liked this poem.

Catching Fire

I have just finished the second book in the Hunger Games series. It is Calle Catching Fire. It was written by Suzanne Collins.

I loved this book!! It was about the aftermath of Katniss and Peeta’s victory of the Hunger Games. They have to convince the capitol that they are in love, but are both forced to go back into the games for the Quater Quell. Katniss will do anything to keep Petra alive but so are the other tributes. Why do the other tributes want to keep him alive? Not to mention how Katniss is now starting to have feelings for Peeta. So how far will Katniss go to get Peeta out alive?

I rate this book five stars! It was an amazing story! I recommend it to everyone!

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

“A picture is worth a thousand words.”

What does this mean?

Well, it is worth so many words because people will understand more. They won’t just have to imagine it. They’ll see it. It is almost like seeing it first hand. They will be able to relate to it more, knowing what it actually looked like. They’ll be able to feel more emotion when looking at it.

That is why a picture is worth a thousand words.

What is Positive and Negative Word Power

Word power is when you use words in a more extreme way making whatever you’re saying, writing, or reading more effective.

Positive word power is when you use your power to create order but still keeping diversity and creativity.

Now the bad one (which is more commonly used) is negative word power. Negative word power includes things like gossip and bullying. The upsetting part is that these things never go away. A student showed that students respond encouragingly to gossip 80 percent of the time which gives the bad people more power.

There are more good and bad examples of positive and negative word power. Power can also be complicated because it’s not just black and white. There is a gray area. That is example of positive and negative word power.
